William Strickler in Early Seattle

Strickler land claim summary

This list of land claims was one of the attempts of the Land Office to sort out the validity of claims to be sure of ownership. The abbreviation S.C. means “secured claim.” Other abbreviations indicate “arrived in territory” and “affiant,” meaning the person who witnessed the notarized document of claim filing. This list is available on-line at Washington Digital Archives.
